A Guide to Determination of Particle Size

When any material of one phase is dispersed into a second phase, an “interface” is created between the two phases (1). The total extent of this interface, which will depend on exactly how the dispersion is made (2), controls the fundamental behavior (stability and structure) of the dispersion. And, it applies equally to particles in air as to particles in liquids.
